Fundamentals of Digital System Design
Course description
This course teaches the fundamental theory and design methods for digital
systems. Topics include: logic functions minimization, combinational
circuit design, synchronous and asynchronous sequential circuit design,
state diagrams, Mealy and Moore circuits, state minimization and assignment,
basic computer organization, and controller implementation. This course
also teaches the use of software tools for design, minimization,
simulation, and schematic capture of digital systems. The digital systems
that are designed will be implemented using MSI, LSI, and field
programmable gate arrays.

How to get more information
Due to the quantity of students in this class, maintaining and using a
class mailing list is infeasible. Therefore, there is a class webboard, which you should
read frequently. The webboard will be used to answer all questions and to
provide any additional information about homeworks. Is will also be an
additional medium to lecture for announcements concerning homeworks, labs,
exams, and deadlines. All questions that are of a general interest to the
class should be posted to the news group. Questions on a personal level need
to be directed to your assigned TA or to Professor Myers.

Homework & Projects
Homework should be turned into the appropriate EE homework locker located in
MEB just North-East of the main EE office. Homework will be graded and
returned in your discussion section within one week. There is no
provision for turning in late homework or projects. All homework,
labs, etc. are assumed to be correctly graded one week after they are
returned. If you have a question regarding you grade, please contact
the grader or for exams the person who graded the problem to address
the issue. If there are any questions on grading, they must be
addressed within one week of receiving a graded assignment. After the
one week has lapsed, no changes will be considered. Please put your
discussion section number and name of your TA on all homework and projects.
